day 26, Feb 6, Durbin, Zulu Village
Hey there ladies that means Gabri, Ashley, Susie, Rachel, and Katie. Do you want me to get you some silk from China for a dress? I would need to know what color and perhaps watch weight. Uncle Ross brought aunt Sally some beautiful silk from China years ago but it was quite heavy and she had a lovely suit made. Perhaps Susie or Ashley could check with Marie and Connie (they both sew) about how many meters to buy. I was thinking three or 4 m would make a formal gown for the Alaska trip. Please respond to this!
We were in Durban South Africa yesterday and had a great tour -see pics and video. Now we have two days at sea before Mauritius. Hope to get a little sunbathing on our balcony and some new books from the library. We have a mariner club party this evening and an interesting lecture this afternoon. It's a tough life!
Zulu women go topless until they are married. The speaker at the village asked the audience if the women were all married and there was a resounding yes! By the way, 1100 Australians got on the ship at Capetown and several of them were sick so we are washing our hands a lot.

Some silk from China would be lovely! I have no idea how much would be needed to make a dress, but I trust you to pick a nice color--maybe some kind of blue or green? Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI haven't been online for a few days... wow! silk from China would be wonderful!! I'll ask around about how much. I could go look at a pattern at the store and see what they suggest.. just for a ballpark.
I'll have to think about color.... hmmmm. Something to think about while I carry wood, keep fires going, slip on ice and shovel snow!
Africa looks totally cool, by the way! You guys are 'living the dream!' lol!
