day 29, Feb 10, at sea

Tomorrow we will arrive at the island of Moritius.

Mom and I have been reading books by Alexander McCall Smith. He wrote the #1 Ladies Detective Agency. We are reading the Sunday Philosopher's Club series which takes place in Edinburough. It is very pleasant siiting on our balcony getting a tan, reading, and having coffee, lunch, or tea and cakes. Before this cruise we were wondering if 103 days would be too long. Now we are wondering if it will be too short!

Last night we had escargot, lobster bisque, and veal medallions for dinner. We are definitely being spoiled rotten. We are now 9 hours ahead of you. It is 4:30 am and for some reason we both woke up (our coffee is coming at 5am), although Mom just went back to sleep. This is a good time to go online. Nobody else is crazy enough to be up! After coffee we will go and exercise and then have breakfast in our room.

Our lecturers are an inteligence analyst, a maritime historian, and a military historian. This morning there is a lecture, "The war against Napoleon". After that we will have lunch and then a nap. Quite often when we are sitting on our balcony we will look at each other and say, "Is this real?".

We have been playing gin rummy before dinner. Yesterday Mom beat me by 400 points. I think she is getting the heck of the game!

We sit at a table for two have other tables for two beside us. Poor Jim and Karen from Toronto have had colds and sore throats for the last couple of days and have felt miserable. On the other side of us are Julie and Craig, and Pattie and Don from Australia. They got on at Capetown and are getting off at Freemantle, Australia.


The story about the ghurka makes us feel very reassured as we get closer to Egypt. Here's hoping things calm down.
