Many thanks for your comments, Susie and Rachel. Believe it or not, I figured out the cows was an April Fool's joke. Normally, I would be down there with my glass!
Apparently, the pirate drill is you go back to your cabin but sit in the hall so you are away from the windows. You can even bring a chair into the hall We'll let you know after it is over.
This thing about more affluence and a decline in the old ways is something we have seen in a couple of countries. I hope it doesn't mean abandoning family values, too.

I am humiliated to say that when Ellie read aloud the post about the cows I fell right for it. I am sure I would have shown up with a glass. That is too funny! Here's hoping the pirate drill stays a drill. What will you do in Dubai?
