day 59, Mar 12, at sea after Nagasaki

WE ARE BACK ONLINE FOR A WHILE!!
Many thanks for all of your comments. It was great to hear from you. Excellent poem, Caroline. By the way, the answer is ... wait for it ... 12 hours.

Hi everybody,

I hope you weren't worried about us as I am sure you all knew about the terrible earthquake. We have now left Japan – thank goodness, and are on our way to China. We will be in China for about one week and there will be No Available Internet. Our tours were canceled today as the port of Nagasaki was closed so we had a quiet day mostly watching the news and, along with many other guests, went to the Catholic service as there was no Protestant one. 30 other guests were on the land tour to Tokyo but they all got back safely this afternoon. It has been a bit horrifying to be so close to such a terrible disaster but we never felt we were in any danger. I am just hearing on TV that a nuclear reactor is leaking but we are far away and on our way to China. If you check the map you will see that Nagasaki is on the other side of Japan from Tokyo.

Will write again as soon as we can get Internet.

Love,

Mom and Dad

PS with the earthquakes in Christchurch, Wellington, and now Tokyo, when we were close in each case, it makes you wonder what in the world is going on!
